Getting WhatsApp Templates Approved by Meta in 2026 — UAE Businesses
Meta's template review process is more strict in 2026. Here's what gets approved fast and what gets rejected, with UAE-specific examples.
WhatsApp message templates are required for any outbound business message outside the 24-hour customer-care window. Meta reviews each one — and in 2026, the review is stricter.
Three template categories
- UTILITY: transactional (booking confirmations, reminders, status updates)
- MARKETING: promotional (offers, sales, announcements)
- AUTHENTICATION: OTPs, login codes
Each has different review criteria. Pricing also differs — utility is cheapest, marketing is most expensive per message.
What gets approved fast
- Specific transactional content: "Hi {{1}}, your appointment with Dr. {{2}} is confirmed for {{3}}."
- Clear sender identification: business name in the message body
- Single clear purpose: no marketing buried in a utility template
- Variables used appropriately: every {{N}} should be a customer-specific data point
What gets rejected
- Generic placeholder text: "Hi customer, we have an offer for you" → rejected
- All-caps: "HUGE SALE THIS FRIDAY!!!" → rejected
- Too many emojis: 🎉🎊🚀💰🔥 → rejected
- Marketing content in UTILITY category: "Your appointment is confirmed. Also, 20% off this Friday!" → rejected
- Misleading or vague URLs: bit.ly links → high rejection rate
UAE-specific things to know
- Arabic templates: get reviewed by Arabic-speaking reviewers. Same rules apply but tone/grammar is checked.
- Bilingual variables: "Hi {{1}}" can resolve to either name. Don't try to embed language switching in the template — submit two separate templates.
- Currency: AED templates approved at the same rate as USD/EUR.
Submitting via EmirVoice

- Open Templates page in dashboard
- Click "New Template"
- Pick account, category, language
- Write body with {{1}}, {{2}} placeholders
- Submit → goes to Meta for review
- Webhook updates the template status in real-time when approved/rejected
If rejected, the rejection reason is shown so you can fix and resubmit.
